Biography

In autumn 1929 Jakob and Lina Kramer’s third son Albert was born in Berg, Marthalen. That’s me. I grew up with three brothers and one sister on that remote farm. After eight years of schooling, I worked on my parents’ farm for two years. In 1957 I took over the representation for milking machines. In 1960 I got married and in the following years two sons were born. Bernhard, the elder, became a painter, too, and Peter is married and has two daughters. During a break in 1971, I had time and built my first iron sculpture. Since 1974 my workshop has become my little kingdom. My first exposition, merely as a hobby, took place in 1971. This was the start for many other expositions, all of them successful.

Once in life, most people feel like getting an overview of what they have achieved. This is particularly true for artistists, and even more if many of their works have already been sold and the originals are no longer in their possession. However, in most cases there are photographies available. If these photos are good, they can lead not only the artist himself but all art lovers who have a relationship with the work to awake reminiscences and recall stories in connection with the specific object.

As small nevertheless our works are, compared with the miracles of the creation.
